What is the difference between a black car and a limousine?

A black car is a saloon or an SUV with a professional chauffeur — a car you would not look twice at, driven by someone whose job it is. A limousine is a stretched vehicle, and today it is mostly a party vehicle: proms, hen nights, a bachelor party that wants a bar in the back.

They have drifted far enough apart that using the words interchangeably now causes real confusion. Someone asking for a limousine to a board meeting generally does not want what would arrive. Arriving anywhere serious in a stretch announces something about the evening that most of our guests would rather not announce.

What a black car buys is the opposite of attention: an unmarked vehicle, a chauffeur in plain clothes, a door opened without ceremony, and nobody in the restaurant noticing how you got there. For a group larger than an SUV holds, the answer is a Sprinter rather than a stretch — same discretion, more seats, and everyone can hear each other.

If what you actually want is the celebration version, say so and it will be arranged. It is simply a different vehicle for a different evening.
