Book the car by the hour for the whole day rather than a ride out to the club and another one back. The group arrives at the first tee unhurried, with the clubs in one car instead of three, and nobody drives home after dinner.

Say that there are clubs when you book. Golf bags are the commonest reason the right car turns out to be the wrong size, and it is a five second question that prevents the one genuinely unrecoverable mistake in this business: four players and four sets of clubs meeting a sedan.

The captain waits through the round rather than being requested again at the turn, and the fare is agreed before the car moves. If the round runs long, which rounds do, the block is extended where the schedule allows.
