Where do I get a taxi at Fort Lauderdale airport, and what does it cost?
Taxis at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International dispatch from a podium on the lower, arrivals level at each of the four terminals, on fares regulated by Broward County; the airport's own estimates for the cruise ports and Miami are on the cruise ports page, and a booked car is the alternative with the fare agreed before you land.
The airport's own transportation page says taxi fares are regulated by law in Broward County and that taxis dispatch from a podium on the lower level, arrivals, at each terminal: leaving Terminal 1, turn right to the podium at the west end; leaving Terminal 2, turn left to the east end; leaving Terminal 3, turn left to the north end; leaving Terminal 4, turn left to the west end (Broward County Aviation Department, 2026).
The same page publishes an estimate table for a taxi and a luxury sedan to Port Everglades, PortMiami, Miami International, Palm Beach's airport and South Beach, and calls the figures estimates that may vary with the fuel surcharge; they are repeated, with the page they came from, on the cruise ports page. It also says the airport and transportation providers cannot provide child safety seats of any type (Broward County Aviation Department, 2026).
The other ways out are on the same page: hotel shuttles arranged with the hotel, many of them free, from the lower-level ground-transportation areas; the Brightline airport shuttle from the lower level between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., one way at a flat rate per person; and ride apps, which collect from zones that differ by terminal and drop off on the upper, departures level (Broward County Aviation Department, 2026).
A taxi needs no booking and suits a short hop with little luggage. A car booked ahead is for the trip with a time attached: the flight is tracked, the fare is agreed before you land, the captain meets you inside the terminal with your name, and the class of car is the one your luggage needs. For a cruise ship, the airport's own advice is to allow at least 45 minutes between landing and check-in; a booked car is the version where that window is planned rather than hoped for.
