What does a cruise day look like from Fort Lauderdale airport to the ship?

How we source facts

From the aircraft to the ship at Port Everglades: allow at least 45 minutes between landing and check-in, enter at SE 17th Street, State Road 84 or I-595 with a government photo ID and your cruise documents, and hand bags to the porters, as the port's own pages put it (Port Everglades, n.d.).

The flight lands. Port Everglades asks for at least 45 minutes between landing and your cruise check-in time, and says taxis, shuttles and rideshares serve the airport, which it calls minutes away on U.S. 1 (Port Everglades, n.d.). Give the desk the flight number and the ship's check-in time and the car is planned against the check-in, not against the drive.

The airport's ground transportation page says where limousines and sedans pick up, and the captain meets you there as the airport's rules allow (Broward County Aviation Department, 2026). Waiting after landing is included for 60 minutes, and a late flight is not billed as waiting.

The port has three entrances, at SE 17th Street, State Road 84 and I-595, each with a security checkpoint where everyone 18 and over shows a government photo ID and the cruise documents (Port Everglades, n.d.). Have both out before the checkpoint. At the terminal, porters at the front collect baggage, and porters hired by a cruise line can deliver bags to private cars (Port Everglades, n.d.).

Coming back is the same road reversed. The port lets people collecting returning guests wait free in its cell phone lot until called, and says luggage cannot be left or stored at the port, so a late flight home means the bags travel with you (Port Everglades, n.d.). Book the return at the same time as the outbound, with the ship's arrival time and the flight, and one desk holds both ends.
