How do I get to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and UMHC in Miami, and where does the car drop you off?

How we source facts

At Sylvester and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, the car goes to the valet drop-off point at the UMHC entrance, reached by turning onto N.W. 15th Street (Papanicolaou Way) and taking a ticket from the attendant; both of the campus's lots are valet only, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (University of Miami Health System, n.d.).

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and UMHC is at the Sylvester entrance on N.W. 12th Avenue and the UMHC entrance just north of it, Miami. The parking page says Sylvester and UMHC have two lots and both are valet only: the south lot at the Sylvester entrance on N.W. 12th Avenue, and the north lot at the UMHC entrance just north of it. Turn right on N.W. 15th Street (Papanicolaou Way), pick up a ticket from the parking attendant and continue to the valet drop-off point at the UMHC entrance. Valet runs 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; patients and family pay $8 a day, others $20, and wheelchair assistance is available. Cheaper self-parking is at the Clinical Research Building garage, 1120 N.W. 14th St., at $4, with a free shuttle about every 10 minutes from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday, that validates the ticket. A free shuttle also runs between the Deerfield Beach facility and Sylvester/UMHC on weekdays, booked through Transportation Services on 305-243-4342. (University of Miami Health System, n.d.).

Not on the page I read: the street address of Sylvester itself; the days valet runs; the emergency entrance; UHealth Tower. Hospitals move entrances for construction and change valet hours without notice, so the page's own words are checked by a daily watch, and the desk confirms the door with you the morning of the ride.

What the car does: the captain drops you at the entrance or valet named above, not in the car park, and nobody asks what the appointment is for. Book by the hour and the car waits through the appointment, however long it runs; for a course of visits the same captain comes whenever the schedule allows. From anywhere in Miami, or straight from MIA for someone flying in to be seen, on a fare agreed before the car moves. This is a car service, not medical transport: captains help with the door and the bags, and cannot give physical or medical assistance.

Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and UMHC has an office for patients from abroad: its "International Patients" page is listed with the sources below (University of Miami Health System, n.d.).
