What size car does a cruise party and its luggage need?

How we source facts

Count bags as well as people: the luxury SUV seats 6 with 5 bags, the Sprinter 11 with 12, the executive sedan 3 with 2. Tell the desk the bag count when you book and the class follows, shown with its fare before you commit.

Call the concierge

Count the bags, not only the people. Our fleet's planning figures are 3 seats and 2 bags for the executive sedan, 6 seats and 5 bags for the luxury SUV, and 11 seats and 12 bags for the Sprinter. Cruise cases are large, so a family of four with four checked bags is an SUV, not a sedan, and a party of six with more than 5 bags, or a party of seven or more, is a Sprinter or two cars.

Say the count when you book: how many people, how many checked bags, any stroller, wheelchair or car seat. The desk picks the class from the numbers, and a car seat or an accessible vehicle is confirmed by hand. The class on the booking is the class that arrives; a car that is too small is the one mistake that cannot be fixed at the curb.

The figures are planning numbers for a typical load, not a guarantee for every case: oversized cases, golf bags and strollers take more room than their count. When the load is close, book the larger class. The fare for each class is shown before you book, so you can compare the two and choose.

For the ride itself, the port asks for at least 45 minutes between a landing and cruise check-in, and porters at the terminal take the bags from the car (Port Everglades, n.d.). A party arriving together on one flight is one car; a party arriving on several flights is booked as several pickups on one account, so the desk can time each one against its own flight.
